FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is Right Way Roofing insured?

A: Yes, like most legitimate roofing companies, our company has all the necessary and required insurance including: Workers Compensation, which protects our employees and the homeowners; General Liability, in case of a disaster; all of our equipment is fully insured in case one of our vehicles damages your personal property.

Q: Do you offer warranties?

A: Absolutely, our warranties are written, which is rare. A lot of companies don’t offer an actual written certificate of warranty, but we do. The warranties vary by the type of work that is being completed.

Q: Are you a member of the Better Business Community?

A: We are a proud, longtime member of the Better Business Bureau of New Mexico with an A+ rating.

Q: How long does it take to finish a roof replacement?

A: It depends, since each job is different. Typically, it will take two days but that is contingent on weather, the size of the roof, and the scope of work.

Q: How long does it take to finish a roof repair?

A: Typically, roof repairs can be done in one day unless they are larger repairs.

Q: Do I need to be at home while you are working on my roof?

A: In most cases, you do not need to be home for roof repairs and preventative maintenance Tune-Up’s unless we need to replace a skylight. On a roof replacement, our supervisor would like to gain access to your home in the morning to ensure that you have the adequate protection and that we have an electrical power supply available. Once that is established, feel free to lock your doors and leave.

Q: Do I need to be at home while I receive a free estimate?

A: No, but it is always helpful if you are home so our estimator can answer any questions you may have and that we agree on the scope of work.

Q: Do you handle insurance claims?

A: Yes, we work with all insurance companies. We are one of the well-established, reputable roofing companies that specializes in high wind, snow, rain, and hail damage.

Q: Are you hiring?

A: We are always looking to add new associates to our company who are well qualified and share our vision of ultimate customer satisfaction and professionalism.

Q: My roof is already leaking and a storm is on the way. What should I do?

A: Have estimates done as soon as possible by reputable roofing contractors. Once you have made your decision on which company you want to work with, get on their schedule as soon as possible since most scheduling is on a first come, first serve basis. Upon signing a contract with Right Way Roofing, we will provide a free temporary emergency repair for you as soon as possible until we can perform the full roof replacement.

Q: How do I know if I have hail damage to my roof?

A: Have a qualified, professional and licensed roofing contractor do an inspection. At the same time, notify your homeowners insurance of possible hail damage and schedule an insurance adjustor to come to your home to see if they qualify your roof as having hail damage.

Q: Can I put a roof on in the winter months?

A: Yes, our climate in New Mexico is favorable to roofing year-round. For hot tar and gravel roofs, we want to ensure we are at 40 degrees Fahrenheit and rising. For shingles, we can work year-round if there is not extreme snow or ice on the roof.

Q: Does my contractor need a license?

A: We think this is the single most important decision a homeowner can make when they are hiring a contractor. Make sure you work with a legitimate licensed, bonded and insured professional roofing contractor who is in good standing with the State of New Mexico. That way, you are confident your roof is worked on by the right people who will be in business down the road to fulfill their obligations to you.

Q: Why should I replace my skylights?

A: Skylights are just as important as the roof itself. Skylights represent one of many different components that keeps water out of your home. We typically like to replace skylights when we replace your roof because it is the least expensive time for the homeowner to replace it. If we need to come back to replace a skylight down the road it could cost two to three times the amount compared to if we had done it during the re-roof.

Q: Is hot tar and gravel old fashioned?

A: Not at all. The new fiberglass tar and gravel roof systems are just as long lasting and durable as the newer systems. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter the type of roof you put down, but rather who installs the materials on your roof.

Q: Why is it important to hire a local roofing contractor?

A: With the large amount of hail damage we’ve experienced over the last many years, we’ve seen a lot of out of town storm chasers in our community. They come in and do the work and once they are gone it is difficult for the homeowner to contact them to fulfill their warranty obligations. When hiring a locally owned and operated company, you work with people that have skin in the game and are going to be there to protect their work, fulfill their obligations and establish a long-term relationship with you and your neighbors.

Q: What do I do with my air conditioning unit when my roof is getting replaced?

A: In most cases, we need to disconnect roof mounted air conditioning units in order to put a new roof on. In the wintertime that is not so much of a problem. In the summertime, because of the warm temperatures, we try to get the air conditioner reconnected as soon as possible. In most cases, your air conditioner with be disconnected during the roofing job.

Q: Is metal roofing better than shingles?

A: Metal roofs are excellent roofing systems but are no better than shingle roofing systems. It’s a matter of choice and aesthetics. Metal roofing will last just as long as a shingle roof, but a shingle roof requires less maintenance and are quieter during rain or hailstorms.

Q: Could my stucco be the problem instead of the roof?

A: Roofing and stucco go hand in hand. In our climate, when you replace an old roof after 15 or 20 years your stucco should also be repaired or replaced. We encourage you to get a stucco estimate in conjunction with your roofing estimate to test the conditions of your parapet walls.

Q: Can you slope my roof to drain?

A: Absolutely, we have the ability to slope your roof to offer positive drainage without changing the outside appearance of your home.

Q: Do I need to make restrooms available to roofers?

A: No, we are one of the few companies that take our own portable restrooms to the jobsite.

Q: Are your company’s warranties transferable?

A: Yes, we allow our warranties to be transferred and it is a very simple process. All we ask is that you contact us in writing with the new owner so we can update our files.
